Experiment highlights

Car, generator or fan. Enjoy three experiments.

By switching the three levers on and off, you can do three experiments: Powering wheels to run a car, working a generator to light a lamp, and making a propeller spin.

How a Stirling engine works

[1]

Heat expands air, which pushes a piston toward a gear.

[2]

When the piston is full way toward the gear, warmed air on the hot side is sent to the cool side by the displacer, cooling the air.

[3]

Contraction of the cooled air moves the piston toward the end.

[4]

The cooled air is sent to the hot side by the displacer and warmed (which returns the engine to the situation in [1]).
